Hi folks,

I went to watch '881' last night. The show is about the "getai" in Singapore. (Getai- translated as 'song stage'..the performances you see in certain places at this time of the Hungry Ghost month). The show is quite entertaining but there are certain parts which I think are very ridiculous. My friend said her mum cried so much in the movie. I think it is the part where one of the 'Papaya Sisters' is dying. I like the elaborate costumes...really very nice. By the way, the movie is in Hokkien (at least 80%) and that makes it quite difficult to understand sometimes.
